As of right now this car has been blown apart and reassembled. It is THAT close to being done. Motor, trans, interior. All redone. The car is very nice. A real Black Plate car from California.

This dang thing has taken forever. Now that it's ready for its final assembly (motor and trans) my mechanic quit on it. Going out of business.I'm going to have to do it myself in my spare time which is very limited. I just moved out of Ill Noise but am still renting here. I've lost my garage space so the cars I have are in a warehouse. I'm looking for something closer to my house that fits my needs as to working on cars. The garage on the Condo I rentis so small you can fit two cars, barely. I used to have an unattached heatedgarage on the back of my property. This Toro is sitting on a rack and has been for at least a month. I have to get it out of there. Wish me luck! More pics when it's done!

So I'm at a crossroads with the assembler. Imagine, I have to threaten to take the car away from him to get him to maybe finish it. Had him on the phone on Sunday and told him it would be done a week from this Friday or I pull it out on a flatbed. I have lined up another guy to finish it. I don't have time, no way. Don't have the tools, or the garage either. I told him that if he had no intention of finishing his work to just let me know and it would be out of his hair tomorrow. He said he wants to finish what he started. If it's not in, and running by early next week, it goes to the other shop. I've had it. I'm apologizing for taking it away after he's had it for 27 months! I was screaming f bombs at him and my daughter heard me. Embarrassed. She said he had it coming. She's right. Updates as they come. The saga continues.

27 months???? You would think after having your business for that long he would accommodate to your terms more just to end on a good note.

I have to go paint an office down the way from his rental unit on Friday night or Saturday. I'm going to ask a good friend to come with. I don't want him pulling anything with me that makes me act in an unprofessional manner and land in jail! I want to walk him around and talk to him calmly. If the car isn't done by next Friday, it's out of his hair. This I told him in case he didn't want to work on it there and then. He could be finished with it, wash his hands of it. I have the other garage lined up to do the work. All I have to do is get the flatbed there and collect the parts. And yeah, you'd think he'd be more accommodating. He's done three cars for me and countless other jobs I referred to him. That alone is worth the price of admission, or finishing, in this case!

Stopped by tonight to see if the motor/trans was in and if it was running. An empty promise made. He said it would be running by Friday, today.I could see through the slit in the window the motor sitting on the engine stand. Called and texted, nothing back. I'm getting a flatbed. Going to look at another warehouse tomorrow. 250 bucks per month cheaper and it will be all mine. 1800 square feet. Plus an office. It looks like a do. I have to get my Vette and Cutlass out of the third unit so he can't hold them hostage when I don't pay the rent. Eff it, I'm done. I think I've been more than patient. Your thoughts joffroi?

So I went to the shop today to paint the third unit. Long story. I painted it to my specs and then was told we weren't moving in there after all. After 3, yes 3 coats of white paint it is back to it's original state so the landlord can rent it. I thought it looked great in the tri colors I picked. Way better than the antiseptic white it was when I was going to move in.Went and looked at a place I am going to rent as of the 14th. It's 1600 square feet with a small office. Absolutely perfect for me and about 8 cars. It will be mine with no interference or crowding from the guy I rent with now. Whenever we took on a new space he would fill it with junk. And I mean junk.As soon as the Toro is drivable it is gone out of the current shop. OR, if it's not running within a reasonable amount of time (like by next weekend) it will be flatbedded to another shop to be completed. I will take care of the small stuff like the wiper motor. That is about the only thing that hasn't been replaced and it has been rebuilt. Even the seats have been redone and are waiting for pickup. The car is THAT close to being out of where it is.The lease, whichI told him not to sign, runs out in March. Then I'm on my own with no bullshit attached. Should be great. Card parties and summer nights a comin! The saga continues!!

Geez, sounds like you different need that new storage area. That's an awesome set of rides. My wife's got a pretty strictrule of only owning one classic at a time, but occasionally by buy/sells overlap and I got a happy garage.

Your garage looks like a timeline of your life. Nice stuff!

Its really true! The gold SX and convertible were shortly after moving into the house; 72 Cutlass Supreme and 442 convertible were after being in there a while. And now the current 68 442 and mini van after having a couple kids and moving haha. (Still need to get this garage organized). Maybe I can find another ride to kick the mini-van out again :-)

A Vista would be nice. But I doubt the wife would like it much. The kids would love it for the first week and then they would ask where their video player is and where are the power ports and cupholders? I have a 2011 Taurus SHO as my DD. I like comfort as much as the next guy.

I also suggested the Vista cruiser addition. Wife nixed that one and got the honda odyssey.

Yeah my better half drives a Ford Edge. It's about as edgy as a marble.

Notice this flapper that helps the motor warm up quick. It has an expansion spring that opens the valve when it gets hot enough. Cool shit.Image title
