Numbers matching 455? The only A body that had a 455 in 68 was a Hurst Olds! Pat

If it's not a Hurst/Olds it can't have a 455!

That's right, 350 or 400 only in 442s that year, very nice car though...

400 only, no 350 in the 442 in '68. Cowl tag doesn't show vinyl top.

I bought a new 1968 442 off the car lot in 1968 with a 350, I have known these cars all my life, don't correct someone if you don't know what you are talking about.

It's possible I could stand corrected, tune up specs were so alike that some engines actually came with misleading air cleaner plates clarifying engine size. I restored a 1968 Delta a few years ago that had 350 tune up specs and air cleaner. when went to rebuild turned out to be 455 witch turned out to be original according to cowl tag and engine number.

I do apologize, according to internet info 400s were the only engine option for 442, I learned something 52 years after the fact. I do know many strange things came from factories in those day's and there could be a chance this 442 came this way from the factory under the radar, there's no way of knowing but if it could be verified it would be worth much more than 21.000.

I could be wrong, but every 455 I have seen in a 1968 Olds was painted red, not blue.  They did not start painting the big blocks blue until 1969.  Blue was then used on the 455 through 1976.  After that, blue was used on a variety of block sizes once GM went whole hog into dumping any engine into any car.

Just double checked photos for a couple documented Hurst Olds...all have a “red” block 455.  The block in this car appears to be blue, suggesting it ain’t original to the car.
