My first old Oldsmobile
Showcase your Oldsmobile
User name of chevyman and buying an Olds? That's a strange combo. I've never done it but replacing a power steering pump can't be that complicated and I'm sure getting a replacement isn't that bad. I've had 5 Oldsmobiles and the first 4 had gas gauges that didn't work when I got them. Usually its a ground wire that isn't connect properly. This is usually the case if your gauge is way past the "F". Post pictures.
'chevyman': Welcome aboard! I'm sure that if you started a new thread in the 'Engine & Drivetrain' section: The guys here would be able to help you out.

Someone tried to install a chrome one, apparently the pulley started slipping off the shaft. Then the welded the pulley to the shaft. Now the pulley wobbles bad and throws belts. I'm gonna check around to see if I can find one asap. I can't figure out how to post pics. One I do , I'll have them up.
I'd just get a new power steering pump. I've got a couple. Where do you live?
BTW Olds belts are notorious for not lining up due to a number of issues normally related to waterpump shaft offset but it doesn't sound like this is a problem with yours. There are also spacers on the waterpump brackets that must be used or the pump won't line up correctly
